Welcome at Stabilis Treatment Centre and congratulations on the big step you have taken. The following instructions are observed at Stabilis. 1. USE OF SUBSTANCES 1.1 The use of drugs, alcohol or any medication during the time of treatment is absolutely prohibited, except medications as prescribed by die centres medical staff. 1.2 NO medication or empty medicine containers may be kept in rooms or on your person, or be brought to you by family/friends after your admission. 1.3 You are subjected to a breathing, urine, or blood test and your possessions may be searched any time when necessary. Should laboratory tests be done, you are responsible for the costs. 1.4 Should you break 1.1 and 1.2, you are released immediately. 2. BEDROOMS 2.1 No one may smoke in non-smoking areas. Should you smoke there you will forfeit your key deposit. 2.2 You will make your own bed and are responsible for the tidyness of your room. NO pictures may be put on the walls. 2.3 NO LIABILITY will be accepted for the loss of goods and/or money. Valuable items or money can be locked in the safe on request. 2.4 Should linen or any other items be damaged you will be responsible for the replacement cost at ruling replacement costs. 2.5 All patients must be in their rooms at 23:00 with lights off so as to sleep. This is to stabilize your sleeping pattern as quickly as possible. 2.6Men are not allowed in the ladies rooms and visa versa. 2.7 There are three blankets per bed and the linen is changed weekly. 2.8 Devotions: 22:30 23:00. Bible study is not compulsory. Devotions have to be respected, to oblige those who want to do Bible study. No one may bath, talk or answer the telephone and no groups may be formed during Devotion. 2.9 No electric equipment may be used in the bedrooms. During admission you may complete a special request form to hand in for approval to use such equipment. 3. BATHROOMS 3.1 These facilities are shared and must be kept clean. 3.2 No smoking is allowed in the bathrooms. 4. DINING-HALL 4.1
4.2 No one may leave the dining-hall during mealtimes. All patients have to be at the dining table, even if they dont want to eat. Before mealtimes, grace is said. No meals will be served outside the appointed times. No telephone calls may be made or taken during mealtimes. All patients have to remain seated until everyone has finished eating. 4.3 Immediately after meals patients must get their medication at the duty room as well as 20:00 in the evenings. 5. VISITING HOURS AND OUTSIDE VISITS 5.1 Visiting hours will be as follows:
Children are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult. 5.2 If you are admitted for a 3-week programme, you may under no circumstance leave the premises during the first 7 days. From the eighth (8th) day you may only go out between 16:00 and 17:00 during weekdays. Should your physical and mental state necessitate it, the personnel may refuse you leave. If you are admitted for a 4-week programme, you may under no circumstance leave the premises during the first 14 days. From the fifteenth (15th) day you may only go out between 16:00 and 17:00 during weekdays. Should your physical and mental state necessitate it, the personnel may refuse you leave. 5.3 Weekends You may leave the premises on the following times during weekends, subject to the times appointed in 5.2:
5.4 Last week of your treatment (not applicable on 5-week programme): Should anyone join you during the last week of your programme, you may sleep at home from the Thursday before your last week. You then become a day-patient. If you are not joined by anyone, you may leave the premises after the group sessions and with your therapists permission until 20:00. Should someone join you and make use of the accommodation at the centre, you may leave the premises after the group sessions and with the permission of your therapist until 22:00. The leave record book at the service station has to be completed by the patient whenever he/she is going out. 6. GENERAL 6.1 Should patients borrow money or any articles from each other, it is at their own risk and the Centre accepts no responsibility for any losses please note that we strongly advise against this. 6.2 All packages brought in from the outside, first have to be shown to the Sister before it can be taken to the room or given to a patient. 6.3 Washing and ironing facilities are available. 6.4 Tuck shop hours: Monday to Friday:
The tuck shop will be closed on weekends and public holidays. 6.5 You are responsible for the behavior of your guests at all times- adults and children. The Centre accepts no responsibility for the safety of children. Any damages caused by visitors will be compensated for by you. All recreation equipment is for use only by patients. 6.6 A duty roster for duties like telephone services, "stoep", medication glasses etc. will be drawn by the Primarius. 7. UNAUTHORISED RELATIONSHIPS No intimate involvements or relationship with any fellow-patient or staff member is permitted. It will lead to your immediate discharge. Staff members will be treated according to their service contract. 8. STAFF 8.1 No orders may be given to any of the staff members, except arrangements concerning washing the price per bundle has to be discussed beforehand. 8.2 All enquiries have to be made to the Sister/Therapist/Director. 8.3 You are not allowed in the kitchen. Enquiries concerning food have to be made to the housemother or sister. 8.4 Under no circumstances may personnel be asked to do shopping for patients. 8.5 All requests regarding meals, "braai's", and linen must be out to the house mother. 9. GENERAL RULES 9.1 The centre is a smoke-free clinic and a smoking room is available for smokers. 9.2 Packages, letters or money has to be sent to Arcadia Post Office. Our postal address is: P.O. Box 26033, Arcadia, 0007 it will be collected for you. 9.3 Pocket money and/or valuable items can be handed in at the Administrative office. The hours are from 10:20 to 10:30, 12:30 to 12:45 and again from 15:30 to 15:45. Enquiries about accounts can also be made at this office in these time slots. 9.4 Additional medication, if necessary, is ordered from a private pharmacy, is immediately claimed from your medical fund if confirmed by the fund, or else is payable at discharge. 9.5 A public telephone is available for your use. The numbers are (012) 333 1540 / (012) 333 0243. Please limit your call to ten minutes to give others a chance as well. Telephone cards can be bought at the tuck shop. Make sure that you have a phone card before the tuck shop closes on Fridays. 9.6 Family and friends are welcome to enjoy lunch or dinner with us. Please make early arrangements (before 10:00 on the specific day) with the House mother/Sister for the purchase of a meal ticket. Prices are displayed on the notice board. 9.7 Change for the pool table can be obtained from the House mother in the tuck shop. 9.8 Should any of the furniture or linen be damaged, you will be held responsible for the replacement cost at the ruling price before discharge. 10. OTHER ACTIVITES On Sundays all patients listen to the church service on the radio at 09:00, or watch our own video recording or attend the church of their choice. 11. MARRIAGE GROUPS 11.1 We ask that the spouses of patients attend the programme for spouses during the last week of treatment if possible. If you are unmarried, a significant person (friend/family member) can participate. The duration of the workshop is from Monday to Thursday every day from 08:00 to 13:00, with interviews in the afternoons. On the Thursday you are discharged at about 12:00. 11.2 It can be arranged that the person who interact, eat their meals at the clinic. Please make early arrangements with the House mother/Sister for the purchase of the necessary meal tickets. 11.3 Persons who interact are responsible to arrange for accommodation. The patient may then stay with the significant person (for example, spouse) and have to check in at 08:00 each morning. This may only take place if the significant person interacts for 2 of 4 days and if the interaction is confirmed in advance. These arrangements have to be made with the Sister in charge, the Wednesday before your last week of treatment. 12. REQUESTS Should there arise a need that cannot be accommodated by the regulations, a special request has to be made on the appointed form. The form is available at the Sister in charge. The director will evaluate each request on merit. Such a request can only be handed in Mondays to Fridays before 10:00. 13.
